Cripple Creek Honors America's Armed Forces

12th August 2009
Cripple Creek Salutes America's Armed Forces took place last weekend, Aug. 8th and 9th, in Cripple Creek. The men and women of the Armed Forces were honored with a great turn out. Starting off with a Saturday Pancake Breakfast that started 7 a.m. and went to 10 a.m. with the opening ceremony that began at 10 a.m. There was a $5 lunch for civilians and $1 for military with military I.D. A parade, live entertainment, fireworks show and much more completed the day on Saturday. A Volksmarch, Burrito Breakfast and the Memorial Wall Dedication 2009 took place on Sunday. One of Cripple Creeks finest events.

Veteran Sergeant Bob Tallerdy once again took his post in the classic Huey chopper that was at the Cripple Creek Armed Forces Day event last Saturday. Sergeant Tallerdy did two tours in the Vietnam War from 1968-1970. Being a door gunner with the 4th Infantry, Tallerdy showed his emotion while grasping the machine gun that is exactly like the one he used.
