Cripple Creek Transforms into an Enchanted Ice Garden

The second annual Cripple Creek Ice Festival arrived in Cripple Creek, CO, February 7 and continues throughout the weekend of February 16. It will be located outdoors on Bennett Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets in front of the Triple Crown Casinos and Bronco Billy’s Casinos and is free to the public.

World renowned ice sculptors carved over 144,000 pounds of ice with chainsaws to create a larger-than-life Enchanted Ice Garden. This year’s showpiece was carved by world champion ice sculptor, Jeff Stahl of Artic Diamond. Mr Stahl’s most recent accomplishment is winning the World Ice Art Competition in Fairbanks, Alaska, in March 2008. This center attraction is a 29’ x 13’ x 40’ castle, complete with a wizard working magic at the top. The castle was created from 150 blocks of ice and weighs 45,000 pounds. Mr. Stahl will also create a life-sized ice maze and dragon slide for children. His ice carving team performed an amazing Fire and Ice Show, featuring ice sculpting and pyrotechnics, on Saturday, February 7, at 5:30pm.

The Cripple Creek Ice Festival is brought to you by the Triple Crown Casinos & Bronco Billy’s Casinos. Other sponsors include: Colorado Grande, Phil Long, Peak Construction, RMC Distributing Co.,
