15th July 2009
“It’s a miracle,” said Merry Jo Larsen, owner of the Cowhand store, shortly after merchants and civic leaders cut an 1,802-foot ribbon, encompassing 19 businesses and several blocks on Saturday--possibly a world record for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The day featured a community celebration, with a Native American Indian blessing, dances, music, contests and a hefty display of business improvements. Photos of the event Below:

“It’s just all came together,” said Tony Perry, President of Park State Bank & Trust, and the person many business owners credit for putting the financial package together and doing some impressive 11th-hour lobbying with property owners. He credits the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining Company and Downtown Development Authority for launching a $30,000 grant program, which got the ball rolling.
